Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes Cast Test How Well They Know Each Other
Released on 11/17/2023
[Tom whistles melodically]
[Rachel] That's impressive.
That made me nervous, why does that--
Yeah, you were shaking.
I know, did you see my lips quivering?
Yeah, I was nervous for you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. [playful electronic music]
Hi, I'm Tom Blyth.
I'm Rachel Zegler.
And I'm Josh Andres Rivera.
We are the cast of the Hunger Games.
Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
And today, we're gonna be competing against each other
to see how well we know our friend Tom Blyth.
All right, let's get it going.
Okay. [playful music]
Okay, first question.
What is my biggest fear?
[laughs] Oh no, it's kind of funny to
look at you and be like, let me guess. [laughs]
Let me guess, you don't wanna die alone.
I have a guess.
I mean, mine is gonna be
probably a little bit more shallow,
but I think I got a guess, too.
[Tom laughs] Mine's the opposite.
You have a fear of like open water.
Ooh. Okay you don't.
What, is that your guess?
[Rachel] Yeah, that's my guess.
Okay, Josh?
I was gonna say mountain lions.
[Rachel laughs]
In what ways is that more shallow?
I thought-- You ever seen Tarzan?
I thought you were gonna say something like conceptual.
Actually, ironically, and this is like my childhood fear,
which I've since gotten over.
Yeah. Snakes.
That's so funny. Yeah,
I was, he was afraid of snakes as a kid
because I saw Indiana Jones a lot.
Yeah, that'll do it. I'd watch a lot
of Indiana Jones, and because he was afraid of snakes,
I think that fear transferred onto me.
Because cool people can be afraid of snakes.
Because cool people are afraid of snakes.
So to be cool, you have to be afraid of snakes.
Yeah, yeah.
On set, we had two live snakes and Tom never let on
that you were afraid. I'm not anymore.
You were there on set. I did a lot of therapy.
I know. With snakes.
So that's not your biggest fear.
So it's technically not.
It was my biggest childhood fear.
It's the one that first comes to mind
if you ask me that question.
Who is my ideal dinner guest?
This is not anything that has ever come up.
I know, Kafka. [laughs]
I'm gonna say Francis Lawrence,
director of The Hunger Games. [Josh laughs]
To be fair, we have all been his dinner guests,
and he's the best dinner host.
He's a great dinner guest,
or host rather. Yeah.
He knows all the hot spots.
And I feel like you, that's your ideal,
somebody who can tell you about the wine
and loves the food.
Yeah, well that's Josh's ideal.
Francis turned Josh into a fake wino.
I'm not a fake, I'm a real wino now.
He's still mad. [Tom laughs]
He's still mad about it.
What was the question?
His ideal dinner guest.
You know, Cyndi Lauper.
Sure, okay, I think it would be David Bowie.
Yeah, I wasn't gonna get that.
Which is, I just think it'd be a lot fun.
We're doing terrible.
Okay, so that's again, no points for Josh or Rachel.
I think I made a compelling argument.
Yeah. I'm gonna give myself
a point in my head.
I think you'll get the next one.
Oh, me?
Okay, maybe, actually, I think I've told you this.
That makes it worse. [laughs]
What is my go-to karaoke song?
I didn't go to karaoke with you.
[Tom] Because we did go to karaoke.
I didn't go to karaoke with you guys.
I don't think you sang, though.
I did sing. Oh no, okay.
I'm gonna say, it was definitely like,
some punk rock thing.
Do you want a clue?
Yes. What, no.
Okay, no.
You also get a clue too, then.
Yeah, but I wasn't there.
Well, I might as well have not been there.
I don't remember. I will give you a clue.
It's probably not what you would expect.
I don't really. Mambo Number Five.
Mambo Number five from Josh, what's your guess?
I'm gonna say--
No, I'm gonna change mine to All the Small Things.
All the Small Things, okay.
I'm gonna say I Miss You by Blink 182.
Oh wow, we're in like a real like 2000s--
♪ Where are you ♪
Yeah, like, those are the ones.
What is it?
The answer is, somewhat surprisingly,
Senorita by Justin Timberlake.
I think because I like the challenge.
[Tom laughs]
It really goes hard on the falsetto.
[laughing] Oh my god.
There is not-- There is no way, yeah.
I know, I told you you wouldn't expect it.
You did not sing it together, though, so no way.
I was not gonna get that in a million years.
I actually think we did.
I'm honestly sure we did. Do you know Senorita?
I don't think I know the words to the song.
Well, that's the point of karaoke,
they're up on the screen.
That's not the point of karaoke.
How does it--
You don't need to know the words.
Anyway, moving on.
What is my favorite mode of New York transportation?
You should both know this one.
Wait, no, of New York transportation, like--
Oh, okay, I'm gonna rephrase it.
What is my favorite mode of transport
to get around New York?
You have a motorcycle.
You do have a motorcycle.
I'm gonna say motorcycle. Do you motorcycle around?
It's a motorcycle.
Motorcycle, and I'm gonna take an extra step
and say, I think it's a Honda.
The answer is motorcycle, but Josh is wrong.
It's not a Honda, so at that point goes to Rachel.
[point dings]
Sorry, Josh.
This is what happens when you give 110%.
[Rachel and Tom laugh]
Is this the example that we wanna set?
For our children? For the youth of America?
Okay, so Rachel gets one point.
Josh gets three-quarters of a point.
He gets 75% of a point. 75%, ridiculous.
Next question, if I wasn't an actor,
what would my profession be?
Like, my other dream profession.
I wanna say something really interesting
like a wildlife photographer.
But that's what I wanna be.
Okay.
Is this if you were not in the industry whatsoever,
or just not an actor?
I'll give you a clue.
It is not in the industry.
It's not in our industry. Okay, there we go.
I like thinking you're gonna be a wildlife photographer,
'cause I feel like you could be really still,
and then the jaguars would,
the mountain lions would come up to you,
which you're so deathly afraid of.
The mountain lions, and the snakes.
I wanna say, I'm gonna say architect.
Oh, okay. That's nice.
Well, it's not it because you were surprised by it.
No, no, but I'm glad you think I'm sophisticated enough
to want to be-- I do think
you're sophisticated.
To be a, the answer actually, since I was a kid,
I've always thought if I wasn't gonna be an actor,
I'd wanna be a safari park ranger.
Really close.
Wait, I was close!
And you were pretty close,

Next question, what is my coffee order?
I think you drink black coffee.
Yeah.
Is that my order?
Everyone drinks black coffee.
I say an almond milk latte.
Or an oat milk latte.
Oat milk latte.
I'm changing my answer to oat milk latte.
I think it's just a coffee with with almond milk.
No, that's mine.
I'm gonna say a coffee with a little bit of cream
and some sugar, why not?
My answer actually is oat milk latte.
No way! [laughs]
So that is a point to Rachel.
She just pulled ahead from Josh's 0.75.
[laughs] To be fair--
You look so pissed.
You look so pissed right now.
You're so mad.
What is my biggest pet peeve?
So many things come to mind that annoy Tom.

You are a grumpy old? Oh man.
No you're not, you're not.
But you're opinionated, and you make it known,
and I love that about you.
Yeah? Yeah.
Tom has always been so relaxed and easy-going.
Go ahead and put a point on the board.
[Rachel laughs]
Yeah, that that point goes to Josh.
One point to Josh.
I actually feel like,
it's people who, it's wasted time.

I'm gonna say loud chewers.

[Tom] Yeah, I was also a hitman.
I know this one. Do you actually?
Which is really frustrating.

What do kids do? [laughs]
I'm gonna go ahead and guess, grocery store stocker?
Oh, yeah, yeah. Like a stock boy?
[Tom] Like a shelf stocker for Shopway.
Like you did at the gas station.
I did that for summer. Yeah, yeah.
It was a lot of fun.
I'm gonna say you shine shoes.
A shoe shine boy? Yeah maybe.
Like a Victorian child?
You're talking about yourself

My first ever job when I was 13 or 14 was a paper boy.
I did, I had a paper route.
