Taylor Swift has a laughably deep bench of friends, as we have previously documented in great detail—and she is decidedly not, it would seem, one of those people who likes to keep her various friends separate from one another, rarely integrating various friend groups.
Last night, Swift took über-BFF and frequent gym buddy, model Karlie Kloss, to the New York City concert of indie pop singer Ingrid Michaelson (who recently attended Swift’s Fourth of July party, which also drew Emma Stone and Lena Dunham, among others). Kloss and Swift stormed the stage during the encore, and—as ever—Swift appears to be having a blast, first dancing with Michaelson, and then moving over to Kloss to shimmy and groove.
We imagine Michaelson texted Swift after the show, “Thx so much for coming! Karlie seems really nice!” and Swift wrote back, “Yessss, we should all get drinks sometime!” and maybe they’ll start up a Gmail thread next week attempting to schedule a date—perhaps they’ll even land on a Thursday in September (“my august is just CRAZY,” Taylor explains), but Karlie will cancel a few days before (“so sorry!!! totally forgot I had family in town”) and Ingrid will write back “No problem! Maybe next week? I’m flexible!” but Taylor and Karlie don’t respond (Taylor starred the e-mail but forgot to come back to it) and the drinks never happen. In a year, Karlie will pass Ingrid on the street, and they’ll exchange pleasantries (“You look great!”) and talk about Taylor for a few minutes (“Yeah, the songs are so good”) before parting ways (“I’m so late for this . . . thing.”).
